Environment - Robots, especially those built by Kuka Robotics, are built for industries with much harsher environments than the dust and water we in the stone industry subject it to. These Kuka Robots come with an International Protection Rating of 6/7 which allows the Robot to be completely submerged in up to one meter of water and is 100% dust proof.
Movement - Robots also have a large range of movement which allows you to utilize the dual-table system without having to move the actual table or block one of the tables while cutting. This allows fabricators to unload and load the table opposite of where the Robot is cutting, increasing the amount of material that can be cut on the machine.
Low Maintenance - These Robots are completely self contained. There are no bearings to mess with, nothing to grease, no parts to order. Your only maintenance will be a simple oil change after 20,000 hours. If you break that down into eight-hour shifts, the first time you will have to touch the Robot will be after about nine-and-a-half years of running the machine. (Of course, like any saw and waterjet there is maintenance for blades, nozzles, pump, etc.)
